چکیده

Finite-temperature diamagnetic properties of doped antiferromagnets as modeled by the two-dimensional t-J model were investigated by numerical studies of small model systems. Two numerical methods were used: the worldline quantum Monte Carlo method with a loop cluster algorithm (QMC) and the finite-temperature Lanczos method (FTLM), yielding consistent results. The diamagnetic susceptibility introduced by coupling of the magnetic field to the orbital current reveals an anomalous temperature dependence, changing character from diamagnetic to paramagnetic at intermediate temperatures. The dc orbital susceptibility of the system in the external magnetic field is χd = −μ0 ∂F ∂B = − χ0 β [

Universal quantum-critical dynamics of two-dimensional antiferromagnets.

The universal dynamic and static properties of two dimensional antiferromagnets in the vicinity of a zero-temperature phase transition from long-range magnetic order to a quantum disordered phase are studied. Random antiferromagnets with both Néel and spin-glass longrange magnetic order are considered. Explicit quantum-critical dynamic scaling functions are computed in a 1/N expansion to two-lo...

Indications of incommensurate spin fluctuations in doped triangular antiferromagnets

The incommensurate spin fluctuation of the doped triangular antiferromagnet is studied within the t-J model. It is shown that the commensurate peak near the half-filling is split into six incommensurate peaks in the underdoped and optimally doped regimes. The incommensurability increases with the hole concentration at lower dopings, and saturates at higher dopings. Although the incommensurabili...

Finite-temperature properties of doped antiferromagnets

We review recent results for the properties of doped antiferromagnets, obtained by the numerical analysis of the planar t-J model using the novel finite-temperature Lanczos method for small correlated systems. First we shortly summarize our present understanding of anomalous normal-state properties of cuprates, and present the electronic phase diagram, phenomenological scenarios and models prop...

Electronic Liquid Crystal Phases in Hole Doped Mott Insulators

Theoretical, numerical, and experimental studies have suggested the existence of ‘striped’ electronic phases in doped antiferromagnets such as the high temperature superconductors. We survey the literature and summarize the results.

Sigma models on curved space and bubble refraction in doped antiferromagnets

The dynamics of bubble solitons in two-dimensional isotropic antiferromagnets, inhomogeneously doped so that the exchange integral J becomes position dependent, is studied. In the usual continuum approximation, the system reduces to a nonlinear sigma model on a spacetime whose geometry depends on J(x). It is shown, both within the geodesic approximation, and by appealing to field theoretic cons...
